Time is Ticking

An article published by The Huffington Post claims that 30% of nearly 1000 divorced women surveyed admitted to knowing they were marrying the wrong man but did so anyway. How shocking is that? Imagine knowing your marriage would end in divorce before you ever said, "I do?" Why would anyone do such a thing?

Many women have been conditioned to believe that getting married is a necessary requirement in life and that if you aren't married by the time you're thirty, something must be wrong. The problem with this thinking is that it totally negates God's plans and timing for your life. Whether or not it is in His will for you to marry, worrying about a "ticking clock" will only serve as fruitless misery. Unless you believe it is somehow better to be divorced than "single, never married," there is perfection in God's timing that you could never finesse.

It is easy to grow impatient when it seems as though you've done everything you know to do & yet time continues on without a suitor worthy of your forever after. If you can shift your focus ever so slightly, you will see a world of opportunities and experiences available to you right now that can make your life richer and fuller than you've ever imagined.

Our joy is not dependent upon a spouse but on the glory of God. He offers abundance, joy, fulfillment, and peace to those who focus on Him. All it requires of us is to trust and follow. Don't put off one more dream because you are single. Live your dream now! God expects you to--He's waiting for you. Could it be that He's waiting for you to walk in purpose before he adds a husband to your life? Might the emptiness you feel in being single be the inadequacy you feel by not walking in purpose? Even if you dream of being a mother, you can do that right now through adoption and foster care. There are countless children desperate for a loving home. Please believe that a husband will not somehow make your life complete, but I can guarantee that a life in pursuit of God & purpose will.

If you've ever heard someone say that love often shows up unexpectedly, it's because it showed up while they were wrapped up in the passion of purpose. Let love meet you by surprise. Pursue your heart's desires and let God take care of the rest.
